Chairman's Report
Fellow Patriots:
The need for each of us to make our contribution to
America's future in this "Continuing Experiment in Democracy" has only increased with the continuing assault on our country's history and its revered institutions which are incorporated into our great Founding Documents, The Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. As the Russian dissident Alexander Solzhenitsyn once profoundly said, "To destroy a people you must first sever their roots." And today, there is a concerted effort to destroy America's heritage through revisionist history.
Syndicated columnist Phyllis Schlafly cited the "National Assessment of Educational Progress" commonly known as the "Nation's Report Card" which stated that less than half of high school seniors demonstrate even a basic grasp of American history. Another prestigious report called "Losing America's Memory: Historical Illiteracy in the 21st Century" charged that 55 colleges and universities including some of the most prestigious have no history requirement, and only one fifth of the nation's colleges require history courses. History courses are replaced by "Non-Eurocentric" culture or society. (This really means multicultural courses that have an anti-Western Civilization or anti-American bias.) All of this means that our PEI publications designed "To Secure the Blessings of Liberty by Reacquainting this and Future Generations with the Founding Principles of the American Republic" are urgently needed in the marketplace of ideas, now more than ever.
PEI recently published it's second flagship publication, "The Making of George Washington," to join our inventory of other fine American history publications. This classic biography deals extensively with Washington's early life, the influences that shaped his personality and leadership abilities. It explores the development of Washington's moral character and modesty, courage and honesty, consideration of others, self-discipline and prodigious will to work, determination to do right, and spirit of selfless service. It is the best publication known that describes his formative years.
In May 2007, we moved our corporate headquarters to Houston, Texas to facilitate our reaching across America to adults and students alike. Our vision is to revitalize PEI for the new challenges that America faces in the 21st Century. There is much work to be done and we have laid out a strategic plan to accomplish these goals.
As a non-profit corporation our future success will depend upon the continuing financial support of patriotic American citizens, foundations and corporations.
I know that realistically I have only ten to fifteen years left to make a significant contribution to America's future. I intend to make every day count towards that goal, and I invite you to join me in this meaningful work to "Secure the Blessings of Liberty for this and future generations of Americans."
